Civica partners with HIMvisible to support men’s mental health

Civica, a global GovTech champion supporting the needs of citizens and those that serve them every day, has announced a new partnership with HIMvisible, a community-led men’s mental health charity based in St Helens, supporting its relaunch and helping more men access peer support when they need it most.

Through a combination of funding, employee volunteering and professional expertise, Civica will support HIMvisible as it resumes weekly support sessions and expands its reach across St Helens and neighbouring communities. The partnership reflects Civica’s commitment to supporting the communities where its people live and work.

Founded more than five years ago, HIMvisible provides a safe space where men can talk openly, connect with others and access support without judgement. Following a pause in activity, the charity is relaunching with a renewed mission: to ensure more men know they are not alone and that help is available.

To mark the relaunch, HIMvisible and Civica are inviting local residents, organisations and community groups to take part in an awareness walk on Saturday 10 October, coinciding with World Mental Health Day and starting at 10.30am. The ten-mile route will begin at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens and finish at the Brick Community Stadium in Wigan, bringing people together across borough boundaries to raise awareness of men’s mental health.

Jessica Collingwood-Terry, Chief People Officer at Civica, said: “At Civica, we believe strong communities are built when people feel supported and connected. HIMvisible is doing important work to create safe spaces where men can speak openly about their mental health and access help. We’re proud to support their relaunch and encourage colleagues and local communities to get involved and make a difference.”

Steve Thornton, Founder of HIMvisible, said: “Too many men feel they have to face difficult times on their own. HIMvisible exists to show that it’s OK to talk and that support is available. Civica’s backing will help us reach more people, reopen our weekly sessions and continue building a community where no one feels they have to struggle alone. We hope the walk encourages conversations that could change, or even save, lives.”

Those interested in taking part in the walk can register their interest by contacting the HIMvisible team.
