Berkeley hosted its ‘Go Green’ event at The Green Quarter last Saturday which brought the community together in celebration of sustainability and the great outdoors.

The day was hosted in Parkside Yards, the latest destination at the Southall development that combines creativity, community and nature. Residents and locals alike enjoyed activities ranging from wildlife workshops led by London Wildlife Trust, a nature trail through the on-site tree nursery and live music and performances to creative classes, a bike stunt show and smoothie bikes.

Nature sits at the heart of The Green Quarter’s design. Once complete, the development will be home to some of west London’s most impressive green spaces, with nearly 50 per cent of the 88-acre site comprising open green space and close to two-thirds of the homes overlooking water or green areas. Upon completion, Berkeley aims to have delivered a 93% biodiversity net gain and 13 acres of parkland. In partnership with London Wildlife Trust, over 2,500 new trees are being planted, including 600 air-potted in a new tree nursery with an integrated nature trail at Parkside Yards.

The homes themselves are built to high-quality specification, fitted with energy saving features, and surrounded by extensive travel connections and resident amenities for more sustainable living. Designed with green roofs, 100% low energy lighting and white goods rating B or above*, Berkeley’s homes have been built to make healthy, sustainable living easier.

With features like heating through an air source heat pump, rainwater harvesting and power from 250 solar panels, the development is well on its way to reducing its carbon footprint. The new Manhattan homes in Quadrant House are available from £401,500 and the one- and two-bedroom homes in The Harris can be purchased from £441,500 and £469,500 respectively with as little as a 5% deposit.

The homes give residents access to 3,178 electric vehicle charging points and 5,130 cycle spaces and are within a five-minute cycle ride of the Elizabeth line (Crossrail) station at Southall, connecting The Green Quarter to central London, the City, Heathrow and beyond. A network of new cycle paths and walkways now make it easy to access the bordering 90-acre Minet Country Park and open up access to a 1.2km waterside pedestrian and cycle trail along the Grand Union Canal.
