Council to invest £3.655 million into borough’s voluntary and community sector

Over the next four years, voluntary and community organisations across Royal Greenwich will receive £3.655 million in council funding.

The 67 Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) grants were decided through a robust application and assessment process and were formally agreed by the Council’s Cabinet on 25 January (subject to call in).

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: “I’m thrilled to say that we’ll be investing £3.655 million into the borough’s voluntary and community sector. Through 67 grants, we’ll support charities and community centres and organisations over the next four years, including more smaller grassroots groups than ever before.

“Our borough’s voluntary and community sector plays an essential role in supporting the most in need throughout our diverse communities and we are proud to be able to continue to strengthen it by funding its vital work.

“Our grants range from £4,000 to £363,000 per year to tackle multiple social issues including inequality, poverty, homelessness, loneliness, domestic violence, mental health issues and much more.”
