Londoners without Valentine’s Day plans — or those simply opting out of romance — are being invited to swap candlelit dinners for new friendships at a Palentine’s Social taking place in East London.
The event is at the Royal Star, Old Street, on Saturday 14 February from 1pm to 3pm, and is designed for people looking to meet new friends in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. Attendees can mingle and socialise without the expectations often attached to Valentine’s Day, making it an appealing alternative for anyone keen to expand their social circle.
The Palentine’s meet-up is part of a growing number of events in big cities organised through WeMeet, a free-to-use social events app from travel brand WeRoad. The app connects like-minded people through shared experiences, turning spare time into real-life connections across the capital. Via the app, users can discover what’s happening locally, RSVP, follow hosts and receive personalised invitations based on their interests.
Alongside the Palentine’s social, other upcoming London events include Trails & Ales on 15 February, for a hike along the North Downs Way, covering the scenic Merstham to Oxted route. The group meets at East Croydon station at 10am, with the hike forming part of a wider 12-event series running until June.
Those preferring something more relaxed can head to the Angel & Crown on Roman Road on Monday 23 February for a board games social running from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. The evening promises a laid-back atmosphere with popular party games such as Cards Against Humanity and What Do You Meme?.
Reserve your place via the WeMeet app.
