Staff and residents at Magnolia Court care home in Granville Road, Hampstead have been gripped by football fever as they were visited by Hendon Football Club.
The home, run by national care provider Barchester Healthcare, invited Jeremy Lawrence to come and give a talk about the history of Hendon Football Club, as one of the residents, Jack, had mentioned that he had been a life long fan of the club.
General Manager of the home, Wayne Hughes said: “We were so honoured to host Jeremy at Magnolia Court Care Home. He gave a fantastic and passionate talk about the history of the club, which was enjoyed by all.”
Not only did Jeremy give a superb talk, he also brought in some incredible gifts for Jack, including a shirt signed by the club chairman, a program from 1974, and an offer for a day at the club as Hendon FC’s guest! The program from 1974 is significant because Hendon FC had a notable run in the FA Cup that year, drawing 1-1 with Newcastle United in the third round. This period was also important as it was the last year before the FA removed the distinction between amateur and professional players.
Resident Jack from Magnolia Court Care Home was completely overcome with the generous gifts from Hendon Football Club and is really looking forward to being able to visit the club as a VIP on match day very soon.
Magnolia Court care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Magnolia Court provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 60 residents from respite care to long term stays.
