Housebuilder supports local Hampshire school to improve outdoor learning resources
UK housebuilder, Pye Homes, has partnered with Porchester’s Northern Infant and Junior School (federation) to donate £1,000 to fund improvements to the junior site’s outdoor space.
The donation from Pye Homes will support the school’s initiative to expand its outdoor learning environment and provide students with greater opportunities for a more hands-on gardening education with plans for the young students to grow and learn about herbs.
Karis McMahon-Lane, Property Marketing Manager, said: “At Pye Homes we’re committed to supporting our local community, and with our involvement in Welborne Garden Village nearby to the school we were excited to offer our support. Together we share similar eco and long-term sustainability goals and so we’re excited to see this project come to life in the months to come.”
The Northern Federation commented, “Northern Federation would like to extend our thanks for Pye Homes’ generous donation of £1,000 towards improving the Junior school allotment. The support is very much appreciated and will make a lasting difference enabling us to enhance our allotment to help make it a more vibrant, educational and sustainable environment for our pupils.”
The full outdoor project is set to be complete later in the year where the infant site will be home to new planters, and the junior site will boast a newly-designed allotment space and large pond.
Earlier this year, Pye Homes announced being appointed by Hampshire-based Buckland Group, master developer of Welborne Garden Village, alongside CG Fry & Son and Thakeham Homes, and have begun work on the first 700 homes, with the initial properties set to be completed in the late spring and Pye’s first collection released this summer. The show homes by Pye will be available to view from autumn 2025.
Blending traditional architecture with modern technology, Welborne is designed to be a sustainable, future-proof community featuring a range of homes from one to five bedrooms, alongside extensive green spaces and local amenities including shops, a business park, a GP surgery, schools, and a pub and hotel. The new community will be one of the largest private housing developments of its kind in the UK.
