Kapten supports Pride in London with donation pledge

London’s 2nd most popular ride-hailing app Kapten is allowing customers to ride out of lockdown with pride by supporting Pride in London.

For every ride booked until midnight, June 23rd, Kapten will donate £1 to Pride in London. All passengers have to do is enter a code. The donations will allow Pride in London to continue to provide a platform for every part of the LGBT+ community, as well as support grassroots LGBT+ groups through their latest initiative, the Unity Fund.

Riders will not have to pay more, as the £1 donation per ride is coming out of Kapten’s pocket and its ambition is to donate thousands of pounds.

Mariusz Zabrocki, Kapten’s General Manager London said: “Many businesses and organisations in London have been hit hard since lockdown started and seeing the city re-emerge, flourish and get back on its feet is vital – and something close to our hearts.

“When we heard that Pride in London was postponed until next year, we felt compelled to support the capital’s LGBT+ communities which are integral to London’s rich diversity, vibrancy and creativity. Following some of the toughest times for everyone, we wanted to do something positive as London starts to open up again.”

Alex Talcer, Pride in London’s Director of Fundraising said: “We’re really grateful for Kapten’s donation pledge. Although we may not be marching this year, now more than ever, we need to unite and celebrate our incredible communities. And it’s these amazing acts of kindness that power our Unity Fund, which aims to address the needs of LGBT+ people across the UK, and help ensure that Pride in London’s vital work will continue”.

This year’s physical Pride events may be postponed, but the spirit lives on. And as London starts to open back up, a Kapten is always a short ride-hail away to safely take passengers from A-B to allow them to ‘paint the town rainbow’.

A reminder that following government guidance, all drivers and passengers must wear mandatory face coverings.
