LABOUR’S General Election guru says no seat is out of reach for the party.
Speaking to GB News after a double success last night in the polls, Pat McFadden said:
“For me, in terms of a General Election, the sooner the better, but that’s in the hands of the Prime Minister.
“I think the Conservatives are running out of road and I suspect they’ll wait, but it’s a decision for the Prime Minister. My job is to make sure that the Labour Party is ready whenever the General Election comes. And that’s what we’ll do.”
On the lessons which he felt could be learned from Labour’s win in Mid Bedfordshire Mr McFadden, Labour’s election co-ordinator, continued: “ Here’s the blunt truth. Elections are decided by the people who tend not to vote. And the people who turned up to vote, and voted in the greatest number, were for the Labour Party. And this was in a seat that we were told we had no chance.
“It was a seat we were told we shouldn’t even be trying to fight seriously, and it’s a really important lesson. It’s a lesson that it’s the voters who are in charge.
“There are now no no-go areas for the Labour Party, it is a changed force from 2019. “Keir Starmer deserves huge credit for the changes he’s made in the Labour Party in recent years. And in Mid Bedfordshire you know, there was never really a tradition of people voting Labour in that constituency. We’ve never held it since the 1930s. But it’s got a Labour MP this morning.”

His comments came after Liberal Democrat MP Daisy Cooper admitted her delight in helping the Labour Party defeat the Conservatives after the party suffered two historic losses last night.

She boasted that the party “won the support of thousands of lifelong Conservative voters”, vowing to “play an instrumental role in beating the Conservatives at the next general election”.
Speaking about the results, Cooper told GB News: “Clearly we are disappointed that we didn’t win the Mid Bedfordshire by-election.
“We’ve had other stunning by-election victories in other parts of the country. But we can say we did almost double our share of the vote in Mid Bedfordshire.

“We won the support of thousands of lifelong conservative voters.

“We played an instrumental part in beating the Conservatives in Mid Bedfordshire and we hope we’ll play an instrumental role in beating the Conservatives at the next general election.”
