This spring, WWT, the wetland charity, has teamed up with Macmillan Children’s Books to explore the wonderful world of wetlands with Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s freshly hatched character, Gozzle the gosling. Families have a final opportunity this May Half Term to enjoy the exclusive Gozzle wetland adventure before it ends on 31 May at WWT London Wetland Centre.
Julia Donaldson, award-winning children’s author, said:
“Sara and I are so happy that our little gosling is going to be brought to life beyond the page. I’ve been to the amazing WWT wetlands before so I can imagine how much families will enjoy exploring them and spotting all the wildlife while they follow the Gozzle story trail.”
Sara Ogilvie, illustrator, added:
“Illustrating Gozzle was all about capturing those small but important first discoveries, so it will be wonderful to see children making their own discoveries in the wetlands as spring begins.”
Families are invited to follow the interactive outdoor trail to discover what it takes for their fuzzy fledgling friend, Gozzle, to become a grown-up goose. Along the way, children can strike funny animal poses, hop along stepping stones and search for the 15 mini Gozzles hiding around the wetlands.
Once visitors reach the end of the trail, it’s time to wave Gozzle off on her first migration, but there are plenty more firsts to enjoy at WWT London this May Half Term. Families can discover the weird and wonderful wetland creatures living below the surface at pond dipping and explore mini-beasts hiding in the logs, to simply enjoying a wetland for the first time.
During May Half Term, families can also visit Gozzle’s Vet Check station in our H2O building, where young animal helpers can nurse a toy goose back to health, explore x-rays and discover how WWT cares for its feathered residents, just like real vets.
The Gozzle wetland adventure is included with admission to WWT London, free for WWT members, and is suitable for families with young children. And the adventure doesn’t end there as families can also take the story home, with Gozzle available to buy in the WWT London gift shop.
Enjoy a season of firsts this spring with Gozzle – running every day until 31 May.

Notes to editors:
WWT – the wetland charity
Wetlands are super-powered ecosystems. They buffer floods, purify water, store carbon, lift our mood, and teem with wildlife — but they are disappearing at a staggering rate.
WWT is on a mission to restore wetlands and inspire everyone to care for them. Visiting one of our wetland sites is a perfect way to experience these extraordinary places and see how nature can thrive when we all help. Our sites are full of life, rich with sights and sounds, and offer unforgettable seasonal experiences — from watching wild birds gather on shimmering lagoons to exploring reedbeds alive with dragonflies.
By visiting, you’re supporting vital conservation work that helps wetlands and wildlife bounce back. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.
