LAST CHANCE: WE ARE QUEER BRITAIN EXHIBITION CLOSES END OF NOVEMBER
Now is the time to catch the final two months of the We Are Queer Britain exhibition at London’s Queer Britain Museum in Kings Cross. Marking the 50th anniversary of the UK’s first Pride March, it is a riot of voices, objects and images from the worlds of activism, art, culture and social history covering over 100 years of queer life.
In December and January, the galleries will be temporarily closed as an ambitious new exhibition display is installed in time for LGBT History Month in February 2026.
Queer Britain Museum’s mission is to Reclaim and Preserve queer stories and Inspire LGBTQ+ culture and history; time spent in the museum is already a powerful experience, and over 115,000 people have experienced We Are Queer Britain since it opened in 2022.
Objects include Olly Alexander’s Glastonbury rainbow cloak, the top hat worn by Suranne Jones in the BBC’s Gentleman Jack, and Queer Britain Museum Patron Elton John’s handwritten letter to his 16 year-old self.
Also on display are key documents from the early campaigns for LGBTQ+ equality, a bronze of novelist Radclyffe Hall by her lover Lady Una of Troubridge, and significant works by LGBTQ+ artists including Duncan Grant.
Queer Britain Museum also hosts quarterly special exhibitions: Top by Claye Bowler is the museum’s first contemporary art installation It charts Bowler’s journey through the healthcare system to receive gender affirming care, and is open until 23 November.
Queer Britain Chief Executive, Andrew Given, said: “The time has come to refresh Queer Britain Museum. After months of planning, we are now embarking upon a way to tell even more queer stories, from a queer perspective. Our inaugural We Are Queer Britain exhibition has already been seen by over 115,000 people, so do pop in before 30 November when it closes”
