Leisure hub unveiled at £550m Canary Wharf development

Galliard Homes has unveiled the new Hybrid Fitness gym at their landmark development Harbour Central moments from Canary Wharf. Located in the development’s leisure hub and as the second location to launch for the popular gym franchise, the Hybrid Fitness concept combines specialist group classes with state-of-the-art gym equipment in one location, ideal for Londoners who want to kickstart their fitness journeys as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

Also, Gym franchise opportunities are amongst the most popular ones globally, so if someone has a passion for health and fitness and wants to join a franchise rather than starting a new business from scratch, this could be the ideal solution.

Anyway, Hybrid Fitness Canary Wharf is located at Stratus Point 19 Harbour Way, the center of the striking Harbour Central development, and is now open to welcome new users. The gym offers 9,000 sq.ft. of thoughtfully curated fitness space over three floors, designed to provide a balance of conventional gym equipment, group classes, a strength and conditioning studio and six dedicated personal trainers. Open seven days a week from 6.30am to 9.30pm, membership costs 70 a month, a competitive price for the total experience.

With the hybrid concept proving very popular since the brand first launched, gymgoers love the variety of fitness classes and equipment available, giving access to specialised training that normally a user would need to pay extra for at a boutique studio; instead, it is all in one location and at a competitive price for Londoners. As the second gym to open for Hybrid Fitness, there are a further three sites in the pipeline for the booming brand.

Hybrid Fitness Canary Wharf is the only gym in London to offer users access to a 4D.Me body scanner, which captures a person’s 360 degree scan in one second, full colour and is accurate within 3mm, helping users to refine their training. The scans can be compared on an ongoing basis to help track measurements and progress, to show a PT, dermatologist, or even a tailor. To celebrate the gym’s official launch, the scanner is being offered at 10 per scan for the month of July.

Harbour Central is a 2.65-acre development in the heart of London’s Docklands, overlooking Canary Wharf and providing 642 apartments. It is comprised of five buildings, with the principal Maine Tower reaching 42 storeys high offering residents views from 450 ft across the city, with super luxe finishes throughout. With the final homes remaining now released for sale, the new waterside community is complete with the state-of-the-art leisure complex, alongside retail and office space, giving residents amenities on their doorstep.

Research by UpSwell Marketing shows that over 80% of customers who had been working out from home or in the park are now looking to return to the gym. The survey also showed that 26.7% of consumers believed that extra safety precautions would motivate them to return to the gym, and Hybrid Fitness have introduced a number of measures to ensure and reassure that the COVID-risk of using the gym space at Harbour Central is as low as possible. These include temperature checks, a managed flow from the changing rooms into the gym, and classes that are set up so that everyone has their own individual station and there is no need for sharing of equipment. At present all regular gym-goers need to book a spot beforehand and will find everything they need for their workout cleaned and prepared at their prescribed station.

Hybrid Fitness Canary Wharf offers five types of classes; Strength, Performance, Endurance, SiN “Strength in Numbers”, Team, and Rebalance. In addition, internationally acclaimed athletes are brought in to teach classes, with previous sessions run by a British Ju Jitsu champion and CrossFit stars. Users of the gym will have unlimited access to the gym equipment and classes giving incredible value for money.

At Hybrid Fitness Canary Wharf, there is a dedicated strength and conditioning studio on one floor, a second floor studio for HIIT, Combat and Cycle, and a third floor designed for general gym use. In the strength and conditioning studio, there is Ergometer equipment, Barbells, Plyo boxes, Kettlebells, TRX, Dumbbells and a Track coming soon. For the second floor studio, areas are demarcated for each training type including bags, indoor bikes, pads, slam balls and weights. On the general gym floor, there is a range of high end Matrix equipment, pin loaded weight machines, free weights, cardio equipment. There are stylish changing rooms and lockers available on each floor.

Since its initial launch, Harbour Central has proven very popular with buyers drawn to the Docklands location, lifestyle amenities and high quality homes. Now complete with the final homes available, the collection of modern towers has been unveiled, with the development’s public realm of amenities, raised and sunken landscaped gardens and feature water fountains bringing the new district to life. Last year, a striking contemporary sculpture by artist David Breuer-Weil was revealed in the central piazza, inspired by the Dockland’s history.

Matt Payne, Founding Director of Hybrid Fitness says: “We are delighted to officially launch Hybrid Fitness Canary Wharf, our new location bringing hybrid fitness to this vibrant district in E14. Harbour Central is a fantastic scheme offering high-quality homes alongside great amenities and it is a pleasure to have Hybrid Fitness take centre stage at the new leisure hub. More than ever we are finding gym-goers want to get back into studios and gyms, or kickstart their own fitness journeys, but traditional gyms can be costly and restricted. Our hybrid concept offers a balance of state-of-the-art equipment, specialist classes and even acclaimed athletes as guest coaches, all in one location for our clientele. We look forward to welcoming Harbour Central residents through our doors now that lockdown restrictions have eased.”

Chris Duffy, Acquisitions and Commercial Director at Galliard Homes commented: “Harbour Central is a striking development in the heart of Canary Wharf and we are so pleased to officially open the new Hybrid Fitness gym. We have worked to create a genuine community, with the new homes, residents’ amenities, public piazza and contemporary sculpture so it is exciting to have our leisure hub now open to welcome gym-goers. Following lockdown restrictions, many Londoners are keen to get back to the gym and kickstart their fitness journeys; Hybrid Fitness offers the best of both worlds; state-of-the-art equipment and specialist classes, an affordable experience on the doorstep for our Harbour Central residents.”
