London accommodation more expensive than New York and Paris at New Year

According to research by spa hotel booking website, SpaSeekers, the price of accommodation in London on NYE is expected to rise by 81% in comparison to average December prices, which puts tourists heading to the capital to see in 2020 in a bit of a financial pickle. So, where should you stay to avoid the extortionate prices?

SpaSeekers has looked into the cost for a one night’s stay in an Airbnb with a double bed on 31st December across the boroughs of London and the prices are shocking.

Tourists looking for a bargain better get their trainers out as they’re unsurprisingly not central.

The most expensive borough, close to attractions such as Big Ben, Oxford Street and of course the best view of the UK’s biggest firework display is Westminster, setting you back over £330 a night. If you’re hoping to bump into the cast of Made in Chelsea this New Year, you’ll be looking at £329 a night to stay in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Tourists looking for a “bargain” should look into areas such as Sutton and Bromley, where prices stay below £150. The full report can be found here.
