London debut of unique French-bashing comedy solo show

All the way from Vietnam, a past colony of France for more than 100 years, comes an expat Parisian to give you a better perspective on the latest pandemic: French Bashing. Storyteller comedian Francis Renaud returns to the UK after his ground-breaking and highly successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe last year. He brings his own unique perspective on not only the cause of French Bashing, but the tools needed to stop this worldwide virus!

Inspiration for the show is Renaud’s belief that French-Bashing is spiralling out of control. Using anecdotes, cultural comparisons, and a wry sense of humour, he will show you how easily you can learn to appreciate the French and France!

Francis agrees that the French are certainly arrogant, macho and self-centred, but believes they have a brilliant culture, wonderful cuisine and a unique sense of humour, making them actually likeable! So, a way to overcome any prejudice is to visit France, appreciate its strengths, and avoid the French-Bashing virus!

Says Francis; ‘The topic of French-Bashing isn’t new I know, but I’ve created my own way to treat it. In my show I bash my fellow Frenchmen and other countries as well. But I also stand up for the French and our culture. My approach to comedy is through storytelling, poetry and metaphor, incorporating my experiences into the performance. Looking at venues around the world where I could help people contain this French-Bashing virus, I could think of nowhere more perfect than the UK, known of course for its special kind of love-hate relationship with the French!’
