London residents more likely to tell off their children than their pets, according to new research

It’s official… London is a city of animal lovers, and local pet owners admit that when it comes to ‘naughty’ behaviour around the home, they’re more lenient with their furry friends than with their children.
In fact, the majority of London’s pets are extremely pampered; only 13% of pet owners believe they don’t spoil theirs at all according to new research from Hammonds Furniture. Most pet owners in London (87%) admit that their pet gets spoiled regularly, and also confess that they are more likely to tell off their children (37%) for breaking ‘house rules’ than their animals (29%).

Hammonds Furniture surveyed 2,000 UK animal owners, asking them what behaviour they let their pets get away with in the home and how much they think they spoil them.

The research revealed that two fifths of Brits (41%) let their pet sleep in their bed, with over 6.4 million cats3 being allowed to snooze in complete comfort with their owners. And it doesn’t stop there as more than half (51%) let their pets make themselves cosy on the living room chairs and sofas too. One in five (20%) also bathe their pet in the family bathroom and 4% even let their pet drink water from the toilet bowl!

Meanwhile in London, when it comes to the kitchen, more than one in ten (11%) let their pets lick pots clean after being used for cooking, and even more (15%) will allow their household animals to lick their plate clean when they have finished eating.

Over one in five (22%) also confessed that they’ll share food with their furry friends when eating a meal or snack and nearly one in ten (9%) admitted that they let their pet eat at the table with them.
