Christmas ads have started airing, letters are winging their way to the North Pole and Londoners’ appetite for festive fun shows no signs of slowing down, with ticket sales to events around the city suggesting they are getting into the Christmas spirit earlier than ever.
Eventbrite already lists close to 1,000 Christmas events in London, and surprisingly, 17% of them have already sold out, with signs a new tradition is emerging.
More than half of the festive events currently selling tickets on the platform are forms of Christmas workshops combining crafting, wellbeing, and personal expression. From wreath-making to festive baking, these experiences point to a new kind of December tradition: a month-long makers’ retreat that feels tactile, personalised, and perhaps even a little anxiety-reducing, rather than purely consumerist.
Eventbrite notes that in previous years, the vast majority of festive events go live – that is, start selling tickets – in November. So while many events are yet to appear, early data already highlights a few trends in how quickly Londoners are snapping up seasonal experiences.
Events aimed at children sell out fast, averaging just 30 days after being posted online. “Meet Santa” experiences go even faster, selling out within 23 days on average.
For those seeking more traditional holiday outings, carolling events typically sell out within 37 days, Christmas markets in 38, and wreath workshops in 40. Pantomimes, ever a seasonal staple, tend to remain available the longest at around 49 days after tickets first go on sale.
Below are a few selected family events that reflect this growing enthusiasm for festive fun across the capital.
