Marble Arch businesses unite for Silver Sunday Board-Gaming Gala

Leading businesses from across the Marble Arch and Edgware Road area have come together in support of Marble Arch London BID’s Silver Sunday Board-Gaming Gala event at London’s Victory Services Club.

Around 30 volunteers from locally based companies including Barclays, British Land, etc.venues, Fulcrum Asset Management, Galliford Try, Grosvenor Casino, HBL Bank, Hilton London Metropole, Montcalm Marble Arch Hotel, Multiplex contractors Essex Services Group PLC, Starbucks and Waitrose contributed their time to make the event a success.

Attended by more than 60 guests from the local community, the Board-Gaming Gala was organised as part of Silver Sunday, a nationwide programme to celebrate the contribution of older people in the UK. Volunteers hosted board game tables, provided homemade cakes and beverages, and ensured that guests had an enjoyable afternoon.

The event offered activities including Cluedo, Dominoes, Frustration, Uno, Pictionary, Scrabble, and card games that you’d typically find in a casino, such as Blackjack, Poker and Baccarat. If you missed out on the event but would like to put your hand to some casino games, you could try playing online using the 918kaya library. There’s the chance to win big using online casino sites and there’s plenty of fun to be had regardless. Check out something like Casino-Bonus.me.uk/ to get started. You would also want to look for ways to spend as little money as possible while you’re at it. Because, let’s face it, we’ve always wanted to win and never lose our hard-earned cash. One way to do so is by making use of the matched opening deposits. It’s similar to the BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals that you see during sales. Casino games might be more enjoyable with these bonus deals in hand, whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro. There was also entertainment, with a special performance by the local Connaught House School choir.

The afternoon included a welcome by Major General Matthew Sykes CVO, Chief Executive of the Sir Simon Milton Foundation, the organisation behind Silver Sunday, while Air Commodore Nigel Beet CBE, CEO/Club Secretary of the Victory Services Club closed the event.

Kay Buxton, Chief Executive, Marble Arch London BID, comments: “We would like to thank all of the businesses from the Marble Arch and Edgware Road area who provided volunteers for the event, investing the time to make this a fantastic day for all of our guests. Our businesses play a key role in the life of our area, including as major employers and as vital contributors to tourism through their leisure and hospitality focus. These past few years have seen some changes to the industries we are involved in, and there are many questions about, for example, the casino industry and what will effect it’s success. However, reminding committed to the community and charity events is one thing that will not change.

“It is important for us to make sure that older people are fully engaged in the life of their neighbourhood, ensuring that they do not feel isolated, and events such as Silver Sunday provide a fantastic opportunity to connect people, and to celebrate the great things that the area has to offer. The initiative capitalises on our Community Programme which helps foster relationships and creates an inclusive environment between our businesses and the local community.
