Mondo Sando has officially opened their brand new site MONDO TO GO. The cult sandwich slinging duo are doubling down on South East London, with their new spot now open in Deptford. MONDO TO GO features everything that made their first site a success, condensing the formula into a one-stop takeaway sarnie shop with a neat 50-seater outdoor space – just in time for Spring.
The Food
MONDO TO GO offers all of the Mondo signature sarnies and sides – from the Mondo Frango, Mondo Combo and Everything Cutlet, to their well-loved House Pickles, Latkes and more. Plus, the SE8 crowd gets access to Mondo Sando’s new and exclusive Deptford-only sandwich, the luxurious Szechuan Beef Dip – made with master stock braised beef shin, dipped beef, mala dust, provolone, mustard greens and crispy potato matchsticks.
The Drinks
At their new site, the Mondo boys will be pulling pints, pouring slushies and regularly mixing up their rotating range of house sodas and lemonades. Expect grapefruit green tea slush, spiced apple sodas, cherry lemonades, the works. A full-pelt and fun drinks lineup for washing down superior sandwiches come rain or shine.
The Space
Much like its predecessor, the space is inspired by well-loved caffs, diners, slice joints, and anywhere with a hatch. Brought to life by Tom Cummings – designer of Cafe Mondo – the new site features the signature Mondo primary colour palette, retro feeling, and of course a small exhibit from the iconic Museum of Stones.
As the name suggests, MONDO TO GO is a fast-slinging, grab-and-go joint. There’s enough room inside to order, mill around, and grab your sandos – but out front, there’s seated space for 50, where tucking in and all other sarnie-adjacent activities are encouraged.
The Story
After a run of successful pub residencies, the launch of a permanent kitchen at The Grove House Tavern, and the opening of their first brick-and-mortar spot Cafe Mondo in 2024, co-founders Jack Macrae and Viggo Blegvad are well versed in ‘selling nice sandwiches’. Now, they’ve taken their skills further South-East. “After many years working in Camberwell, 5 minutes from Jack’s flat, it’s only fair we open a site in Deptford, 5 minutes from Viggo’s.”
Buzzing to further expand their presence in South London, the Mondo boys are offering their wares to a new radius, both on-site and via delivery to a whole host of previously sandwich-sorry postcodes. Delivery will be available on their website, as well as on UberEats.
