More than 100 first-time buyers secure a home at new apartment development in Beckton

More than 100 first-time buyers have moved into a new home at Bellway London’s Beckton Parkside development in Beckton.

A total of 148 apartments have been sold to first-time homeowners at the site, including people buying on their own or as a couple.
Bellway London is building 391 homes at the development off Viking Gardens, overlooking Beckton District Park.

Thanks largely to the affordability of the apartments being delivered by Bellway, most first-time buyers at Beckton Parkside have secured their new home using Help to Buy, with 148 homes being purchased through the scheme.
The Government initiative enables first-time purchasers to buy a new-build home with just a five per cent deposit and 55 per cent mortgage in London, with the remaining 40 per cent of the purchase price being provided as an equity loan which is interest free for the first five years.

A range of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments are currently available at Beckton Parkside. Priced between £265,000 and £530,000, these homes all fall below the Help to Buy London regional price cap of £600,000, meaning they are all eligible for the scheme which comes to an end in March 2023, as long as the property has been reserved by October this year.

Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway London, said: “The high proportion of first-time buyers at Beckton Parkside that have used Help to Buy underlines just how important the scheme has been to people seeking to get a foot onto the property ladder in the capital.

“The fact that we have welcomed 148 first-time buyers into a new apartment at Beckton Parkside also demonstrates the affordability of the homes we are providing here and in other locations across London.

“We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, attainable homes for first-time buyers in the capital, enabling more people to enjoy the benefits of homeownership. By building homes which are within the Help to Buy regional price cap, we have made this dream even more achievable for those who would otherwise have struggled to save up for a standard deposit.

“With Help to Buy coming to an end next year, as long as you reserve the property before October this year, we would encourage anyone thinking of joining the growing community of first-time buyers at Beckton Parkside to get in touch with our sales team at the development to find out more about the options available to them.”
Beckton Parkside also includes landscaped open space, a concierge service, children’s play area, and a residents’ only work hub.
