Political turmoil must not derail a Thames Water Rescue deal, GMB Union has warned.
The Government is currently negotiating a takeover deal for the stricken water company with a consortium of creditors – but sources say the deal has run into problems in part because of the uncertainty surrounding the Prime Minister’s position. [1]
Gary Carter, GMB National Officer, said:=
“Thames Water workers have had two years of uncertainty – and a short-term private sector fix will not provide long term stability, clean up the environment, or guarantee jobs, pay, and pensions.
“It’s time to bring back Thames Water into public ownership.”
