What is an Inside Bet?

Before we delve into inside bets and their odds, let’s first understand what ‘inside bet’ means. An inside bet, in simple terms, is the name given to a bet that is placed within the numbered section of a Roulette table.

Inside Bets and Their Odds

  • Basket – 6:1

Whether you’re playing the American or European table, a Basket bet consists of placing chips on 0, 1, 2 and 3. You may even hear this bet type referred to as ‘First Four’.

  • Corner – 8:1

When placing a Corner bet, you’ll need to place a betting chip in the four corners where four numbers meet on the table. This bet type is also known in some places as a ‘Four Numbered Bet’ and a ‘Square Bet’.

  • Five Numbered Bet – 6:1

A bet only to be placed within the American variation of the game, as this bet type requires the double zero element of the American version. To place a Five Numbered bet you’ll need to place a chip in boxes 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. This bet type is also known as a ‘Top Line Bet’.

  • Line – 5:1

When placing a betting chip at the end of two consecutive rows comprised of three numbers on each, where the line meets. This is also known as a ‘Six Line Bet’.

  • Snake Bet – 2:1

Referring to the pattern made when this bet is placed, a player must place a chip in boxes; 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32 and 34. When this is placed, a snake-like shape will be made.

  • Split – 17:1

When a betting chip is placed on the line between two numbers on the table, this is known as a Split. The numbers can either be to the left or right of a number or below or above. For example; 5/6 or 8/11.

  • Straight Up – 35:1

When you place a betting chip on a single number, this is known as a Straight Up bet. Offering the highest payout, it is also the riskiest to wager on.

  • Street – 11:1

When you place a betting chip halfway on the edge of the last or first number on a row of three, this is known as a Street bet. One chip will place a wager on all three numbers on that row. You may hear this referred to as a ‘Trio Bet’ or a ‘Steam Bet’.
