Sustainably and ethically produced activewear brand TALA has announced that their best-selling SkinLuxe and DayFlex collections will be available in sizes 2XS to 4XL from 15th February 2023 on wearetala.com in the UK and the US.

The extended sizing comes after 1.5+ years of development, working closely with real women and considering the meaningful feedback given by TALA wearer trials, fit sessions and focus groups to ensure all the garments will support customers while also helping them look and feel incredible.

Starting with their core activewear ranges, DayFlex and SkinLuxe, TALA has pledged that from launch and over the next 6 months, 78% of the new styles and colours dropped will be available in sizes 2XS – 4XL. They have also made a point to be fully transparent with their audience about how they got here and why they couldn’t responsibly extend sizing on everything from the start, with the main factors impacting the brand including:

We’re not in the business of creating waste. If we extended to all sizes on all of our products at once, we’d create a huge amount of waste by trying to sell to an audience that we haven’t yet cultivated. There are minimum quantities required for every order per size, and we have a back catalogue of nearly 4 years of product that we simply can’t afford to buy all at once. This would not be responsible of us, especially considering our pledge to never send to landfill.
We want to continue to get it right. We have been working with real women giving real feedback through focus groups, fit sessions and more, and this will keep happening. By taking a phased approach, we can also integrate the feedback we receive from our community as you try on each collection as it is launched. We can’t wait.
TALA is taking a phased approach to prevent waste while trying hard to gain the trust of a completely new-to-TALA audience. Over the next six months, complete sizing (2XS – 4XL) will be available across the following collections, with some extra surprises along the way:

Commenting on the announcement, TALA’s brand founder Grace Beverley, says, “When it’s estimated that 67% of US women are “plus-sized,” and the average size in the UK is a 16, there’s absolutely no denying that we are not fulfilling our mission as a brand advocating for accessibility to sustainable options if we don’t cater to nearly half the population.

Extending our sizing is something I have wanted to do from day one of TALA and a project we have been working on in earnest for nearly two years now. As far as we’re concerned, it’s long overdue, and there’s no way we’ll do it perfectly from day one, but I am so excited to take this step towards becoming the TALA we ought to be.”
