The 15th BFDG Production Design Awards – First Round of Voting Now Open to BFDG Members

The first round of voting for the 15th BFDG (British Film Designers Guild) Production Design Awards opened today. Members are invited to cast their votes across 11 of the 16 award categories, which cover film, television, commercials, and music videos released in 2025, as well as The Peter Lamont Spotlighting New Talent Award.

The remaining categories: Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Contribution, and Planet Positive, will be judged by specialist committees.

Record Number of Entries

The BFDG is delighted to have received an exceptionally strong number of entries this year. Despite recent industry challenges, submissions have exceeded expectations, with record entries in the TV and Short Film categories in particular.

BFDG Chairperson Jonathan Paul Green said:

“We are so pleased as a Guild at the number of entries we have received this year. This really shows that the BFDG has put the Art Department on the map, and that our awards have become an established and respected part of the awards calendar. We look forward to celebrating the amazing talent of the British Art Department as we return to the Royal Lancaster Hotel in February.”

Recognising Excellence Across the Art Department

In addition to the production design categories, the awards will spotlight the outstanding achievements of individual members through:

The Peter Lamont Spotlighting New Talent Award (Supported by CrewHQ)
The Outstanding Contribution to the Art Department Award (Supported by Pinewood Studios)
The Lifetime Achievement Award (Supported by Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden)
The BFDG continues its commitment to sustainability with the Planet Positive Award (Supported by Sky Studios Elstree). Now in its fourth year, this award recognises an Art Department team or individual who prioritises environmental sustainability in their work. Entries for this category remain open until 11 January 2025.

Key Dates

Finalists in each category will be announced on 5 January 2025, when final voting will open. Winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony on Saturday 28 February 2025 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, hosted by broadcaster and film critic Mark Kermode.
