Travelodge is offering guests a virtual tennis court experience during the 2023 Wimbledon Championships

To celebrate London Wimbledon Central Travelodge welcoming tennis fans for the first time from all corners of the UK and the globe for the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, the hotel is offering guests an virtual tennis court and it has named its eight floors after the nation’s favourite tennis legends

In a UK first, Travelodge is the first budget hotel chain to offer its guests a complementary virtual tennis court experience so that they can enjoy a game of tennis during the 14 days of the Wimbledon Championships.

London Wimbledon Central Travelodge, which opened in December 2022 is going to be home for the first time for tennis fans from not just all corners of the UK but across the globe during the forthcoming Wimbledon Championships starting July 3rd 2023. To mark this special occasion the hotel has installed VR headsets so that guests can indulge in a game of tennis during their stay. Also they have named the hotel’s eight floors after Britain’s favourite tennis legends that have played at the famous Wimbledon Park Tennis Courts.

The complementary tennis experience is offered via a fully immersive virtual reality headset. The VR technology will transport the user into a three dimensional tennis court full of spectators, so that they can experience what it is like to play live in a Wimbledon Championship tennis match.

To help name the eight floors at London Wimbledon Travelodge after tennis legends, the hotel chain conducted a survey with 2,000 British adults to find out their favourite all time tennis player.

Topping the nation’s all-time favourite Wimbledon legend is Scottish born Sir Andy Murray – who ranked world number one by the Association of Tennis Professionals in 2016, Andy Murray has won two Grand Slam singles titles Wimbledon and is also currently the only player to defeat Novak Djokovic in a Wimbledon final.

The second position was won by recently retired Swiss tennis player Roger Federer who was ranked world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals for 310 weeks. Federer has won a record eight men’s singles Wimbledon titles.

The nation’s third favourite tennis player to have played at Wimbledon is Rafael Nadal who is currently ranked world No.2 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals. He has been ranked world No. 1 for 209 weeks, and has finished as the year-end No. 1 five times. Rafael Nadal has won an all-time record 22 Grand Slam men’s singles title which includes two Grand Slams at Wimbledon.

The World’s greatest tennis player, Serena Williams, takes fourth position as the nation’s favourite tennis player to have played at Wimbledon. She was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for 319 weeks and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times. She has won seven Grand Slam wins at Wimbledon.

American tennis legend John McEnroe takes fifth position in the poll. McEnroe is the only male player in tennis history to hold the world No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles simultaneously. McEnroe finished his career with 77 singles titles, three of which were at Wimbledon, on the Association of Tennis Professionals Tour and 78 doubles titles, including four at Wimbledon, which remains the highest men’s combined total.
