The University of West London (UWL) has been ranked 3rd of 147 institutions by the People and Planet student campaigning network in their University League 2025/26. The University is ranked First Class, is 1st in London, and in the top 5 for carbon reduction.
Over the past year UWL has progressed in key areas of environmental sustainability, including managing carbon, due to greater reporting of scope 3 emissions data.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Property, Sustainability and Accommodation) Claire Willitts said:
“We are extremely proud to have maintained our position as the third most sustainable university in the UK for a second year running. It is often much harder to maintain than to attain and it is thanks to the dedication of our entire community.
“Being classed as the most sustainable university in London and in the top five for carbon reduction across the UK reaffirms that sustainability is central to the mission and strategy of UWL.
“We are determined to keep driving progress, not only for our university but for the wider sector, because we believe education and sustainability must go hand in hand to create lasting change.”
People & Planet’s University League is the only comprehensive and independent league table of UK universities ranked by environmental and ethical performance. It is compiled annually by the UK’s largest student campaigning network, People & Planet.
