Visual artist Charlotte Taylor reimagines rooftop garden in the city

Celebrated visualisation artist Charlotte Taylor has reimagined the ultimate rooftop terrace, taking inspiration from a quintessential British home garden to enliven an urban Summertime space.

Invited on behalf of the newly launched private residence Capella, Charlotte has taken cues from the lush environment of Lewis Cubitt Park, the largest green space in King’s Cross, to dream up this ultra-realistic botanical-filled space that fuses fiction with reality in a deceptively subtle way.

Promising to set a new benchmark for quality urban living, Charlotte’s vision for Capella blends the sculptural with the whimsical, the futuristic with functional, to create an alfresco oasis that is both soothing and playful.

Charlotte Taylor explains “The concept was born from initial sketches to re-interpret the existing space and details of the terrace. We wanted to capture the pure essence of British summertime, using gorgeous florals and plants inspired from the traditional English garden, and fusing them into an urban setting to romanticise how time can be spent at Capella.”

The standalone rendering sees abstract planters filled with life and colour. Inspired by the kerb-side appeal of climbing wisteria, the purple-tinged waterfalls flow from the awnings while pops of bold red pansies and bright yellow roses inject romanticism to its setting. Jovial elements have been incorporated into the scene, with visually appealing seating and rope swings, to inspire residents to engage with the space as an extension of their home.
