IT WAS all the fun of the Fayre, as the team from Specsavers Walton-on-Thames joined the second annual summer community festival hosted by Love Walton Business Improvement District (BID).
Celebrating all things local, there was a diverse array of artisans showcasing their crafts, including jewellery, award-winning ‘free from’ cakes and delicacies, and the local famers’ market offering fresh Surrey produce.
There was also entertainment for all ages including a bouncy castle, fairground rides and face painting for the younger visitors alongside local musicians, stilt walkers and artists who helped create a fun-filled day for the Walton community.
An outdoor Wimbledon cinema-style chill area was set up at the nearby Heart Shopping Centre, for visitors to relax and enjoy the tennis taking place at the nearby famous Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club.
Mital Patel, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Walton-on-Thames says: ‘As members of Love Walton BID, we were delighted to support the summer festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together and celebrate all things local to the town.
‘We’ve been a part of Walton-on-Thames since 2002, so it’s wonderful to catch up with our customers and chat to visitors at the stand.
‘The Summer Fayre was a great success, with special thanks to the store team who organised our stand, including Rebecca Conway and Rowan Millar who helped make it more engaging and fun for passers-by.’
Getting into the spirit of the event the Specsavers team created a mini photo booth with funny spectacles and hats and encouraged passers-by to take selfies. They handed out goodie bags with voucher offers, trolley key rings, lens cloth cleaners and details promoting the newly launched children’s Bluey frames.
A not-for-profit organisation, Love Walton BID is funded and run by businesses in the town centre. Its focus is to make Walton vibrant and attractive for businesses, residents and visitors. Fostering a partnership approach, the local businesses support projects and initiatives to enhance the town and drive commercial success.
