What a rollercoaster: Ronan Keating surprises shoppers with impromptu performance… in Spanish

Ex-Boyzone star, Ronan Keating, stunned shoppers at a local Tesco Mobile store as he was captured performing an acoustic version of his hit song ‘Life is a Rollercoaster’, with a holiday twist.

In the footage being shared across social media, Ronan was filmed treating shoppers to renditions of his hit songs with the lyrics receiving a holiday-inspired makeover.

Ronan’s name had changed earlier this week on social media to ‘Roaming’ Keating – leaving fans speculating as to what was going on.

His surprise performance came as he officially announced his new role as Roaming Ambassador for Tesco Mobile – celebrating the fact that the helpful network has extended its roaming offering until 2025.

Complete with uniform and official name badge, ‘Roaming’ Keating kicked off his new role today, learning the ropes in the Hemel Hempstead store by helping customers and recommending deals. He also helped get people in the holiday mood during one of the busiest months for holiday bookings with special performances where even the lyrics had a ‘roaming’ twist.

The star will continue in his new role this week, traveling to different Tesco Mobile stores on a mission to surprise and delight more shoppers with surprise performances and holiday gift cards.

Roaming Keating, singer-songwriter and ex-Boyzone star commented, “I am very excited to kick off my work with Tesco Mobile as their new Roaming Ambassador, it feels I perhaps was born to play this role.”

“Let’s face it, we’re all thinking about getting away on holiday around this time of year. Having toured and visited many places over the years I know how important it is to stay connected when we do, so now really is the time to also start thinking about holiday essentials. I’ll be on hand to offer my extensive roaming advice this week so come and find me or ask for me by my new name. You may just win some holiday helps in the process.”

Tesco Mobile’s extended offer means customers can continue to tap into their UK minutes, texts and data allowance, at no extra cost, when travelling in 48 destinations in the EU and beyond.

Rachel Swift, Tesco Mobile Chief Customer Officer, said: “We know January can feel a little doom and gloom, so we wanted to put a smile on the faces of our customers by spreading some much-needed holiday joy… And there is no one better than the one and only Ronan Keating, or should I say, Roaming Keating, to help us do just that as our first official Roaming Ambassador.

As the UK’s super helpful network, we are very happy to extend our Home From Home offering, enabling our customers to tap into their UK allowances for free in 48 destinations in the EU and beyond until 2025 – so they can roam and relax.”

Those looking for ‘Roaming’ Keating should keep their eyes peeled on their local Tesco Mobile stores this weekend, as they may catch more impromptu performances and win holiday gift cards. Head to @tescomobile on Instagram and TikTok to follow Ronan on his journey.
