Whole Foods Market and The Felix Project team up to “stuff the van” and support London communities

Today Whole Foods Market hosts its first-ever “Stuff the Van” event in the UK at its Stoke Newington store, in partnership with The Felix Project, London’s largest food redistribution charity.

As part of Whole Foods Market’s global Nourishing Our Neighbourhoods programme, team members at the Stoke Newington store will take part in a special one-day event, filling The Felix Project’s refrigerated van with donated pantry staples. Once packed, the van – donated by Whole Foods Market – will deliver the food to Felix supported community organisations across London, helping ensure good food reaches people who need it most.

This community event celebrates the ongoing partnership between Whole Foods Market and The Felix Project, supported through the Nourishing Our Neighbourhoods programme. The programme launched in 2020 to help expand the capacity of community-based food rescue partners. Today, 83 vans will be “stuffed” across the UK and US, helping move fresh, high-quality food from stores to communities where it’s needed most.

Each vehicle can rescue nearly 10,000 kilograms of food every week. Over its 10-year lifespan, this means nearly nine million meals can be shared with people in need.

“The Felix Project does incredible work redistributing surplus food to people who need it most, and we’re proud to support them through our Nourishing Our Neighbourhoods programme,” said Shaun Coombs, Operations Lead at Whole Foods Market UK. “Our team members are passionate about giving back, and this event is a simple, tangible way for us to make a difference together.”

“We’re honoured to partner with Whole Foods Market on this Stuff the Van event,” Lizzie Short, Supply Lead at The Felix Project. “Every kilo of surplus food collected today helps us continue rescuing nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste, and sending it out to over 1,200 community organisations across London. Initiatives like this deepen our impact, spotlight the power of collaboration, and bring us closer to a London where no good food is wasted.”
