SUMMER IN THE PARK 2024 FESTIVAL LISTINGS (JUNE-AUG)

Arts Trust, producer of King’s Cross Summer Sounds, has announced the programme for the June-August section of Summer in the Park; the free festivals in the beautiful parks and squares of Greenwich, Bexley and Tendring this summer.

Summer in the Park is a series of outdoor dance classes, festival events and community park picnics, full of music, dance, theatrical performances and physical activity for people of all ages; held in Greenwich Park, Maryon Park, Queenscroft Park, Charlton House, Cygnet Square and St Osyth Priory.

The events, taking place between June and October, are designed to celebrate community,, arts, sport and local culture, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Peabody Trust and supported by Go! London.
New event partners and a fresh vision have inspired the season of free performances and cultural experiences. Through events that draw national attention, Summer in the Park spotlights the local diverse cultures, offering free events in world-class locations.

The Summer in the Park September-October programme will be announced later in the summer, so keep your eyes peeled.

Summer in the Park: Maryon Park Picnic

The ‘Summer in the Park’ Mayron Park Picnic features the spirited tunes of Ceilidh Tree; whether you’re well-versed in folk dances or eager to learn, this event promises an unforgettable day filled with lively music and dancing. You can also immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Africa with Bantu Arts, your premier source for traditional African and Ugandan music and dance, and attend insightful water quality testing events and workshops by Thames21, designed to engage and educate the community on the health of local rivers.

On day one of Greenwich Park Youth Festival, breathe deep, connect with nature, make new friends and relax in the beautiful setting of Greenwich Park by joining an open air Tai Chi class delivered by Chew-Yeen Lawes, or take part in a Tango class taught by London Tango School & Social Dancing – Corrientes Social Club.

The National Youth Jazz Orchestra Under 18s is a Saturday programme for talented young jazz musicians aged 14-18, offering training, ensemble-playing, performance opportunities and jams to develop your technique and your creativity, while Brass Rascals will be supplying the party with their infectious brass band energy.

Visual artist and community educator Paige Denham will be leading a Graffiti Workshop, while participatory arts facilitator, specialising in drama and dance Audrey Xiarui Corno will be inviting one and all to take part in a Hip Hop Workshop, and Vibes on Vibes will be bringing you a Silent Disco SkateJam that’s all about mastering the art of skating with a fun twist.

Award-winning amateur historian, drag artist, zine maker and part-time goddess of love ‘H.R.H. Aphrodite I’ will be leading Drag Queen Story Time, and you can also step into the bustling vibrancy of the local Farmers’ Market showcasing the community’s freshest produce and artisan goods.

Day two of Greenwich Park Youth Festival features the spirited tunes of Ceilidh Tree, as well as the opportunity to make new friends and relax by joining an open air Tai Chi class delivered by Chew-Yeen Lawes, or a Tango class taught by London Tango School & Social Dancing – Corrientes Social Club, as well as Yoga Flow Sessions for Adults.

Take part in Fish Out of Water, a fresh, family-friendly outdoor dance performance using hip hop, interactive sculptures and responsive music to explore themes of belonging, otherness, displacement and migrancy, or check out AirCraft Circus Workshop where AirCraft Circus Academy’s expert trainers will teach you exciting circus skills.

Vibes on Vibes will be bringing you a Silent Disco Backward SkateJam that’s all about mastering the art of skating with a fun twist, while versatile artist John Lord will lead Art in the Docks, a community drawing that celebrates everything about Greenwich, and once again you can also step into the bustling vibrancy of the local Farmers’ Market showcasing the community’s freshest produce and artisan goods.
