Be.EV to supercharge London with £2.5m investment in ultra-rapid EV charging hubs

National EV charging network Be.EV, has announced a major breakthrough into the capital unveiling plans to launch four new ultra-rapid charging hubs across London by the end of the year.

Be.EV will invest over £2.5 million to deliver 30 150kW charging bays, which can deliver 80% of charge in just 20 minutes.

Be.EV has installed the first site in this expansion at the Crown Hotel London in Cricklewood (NW2 3ED), delivered in partnership with AG Hotels.

This is the perfect hub to attract more eco-conscious guests and enhance guest experience by providing a convenient charging solution. It will generate significant value for AG Hotels as well, given EV drivers often prioritise hotels with EV charging provision.

The other sites in the expansion will be installed near Croydon, Dartford and Watford, and will help to tackle one of London’s challenges around EV charging: a lack of high-powered public charging.

While the capital has a far greater total number of EV chargers than the rest of the UK, it currently lags well behind the national average for 50KW+ chargers per 100,000 people, with only Northern Ireland having fewer of these chargers on average.

Be.EV’s investment is a vital first step in correcting this imbalance, giving drivers more options for ultra-rapid top-ups on longer journeys or when they have desperate need of charging.

The Crown Hotel London site also marks a major milestone for the operator: its 300th ultra-rapid charge point. This marks a significant period of growth for Be.EV, having also been voted as the UK’s 4th top-rated large rapid/ultra-rapid EV charging network in the UK by drivers last year as part of Zapmap’s charge point operator rankings.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV comments: “London is crying out for reliable, accessible EV charging – and this expansion is about meeting that demand head-on. We’re helping to future-proof the city by putting chargers where people need them most: close to homes, shops and leisure destinations.

“It’s a win for AG Hotels too – they get EV charging at no cost, while benefiting from increased footfall from drivers stopping in to top up. This is what the future of urban mobility looks like, and we’re proud to be helping deliver it in the capital.”
