Bromley charity supported by Amazon donation

A Bromley charity has received a £9,000 donation following nominations of support from Amazon employees at the company’s head office in London.

The donations were made to Greener and Cleaner, a charity providing advice and information on reducing environmental impact at home, at work and in the wider South-East London community. The charity offers advice via its innovative 3-year community Hub, website and Facebook group and also arranges monthly meetups to discuss community projects, workshops and events. The charity runs several events locally, including energy advice services, mending clinics, carbon literacy and providing people with the skills to give old items a new lease of life.

The donation from Amazon will go towards delivering workshops in the Hub and the output of a sustainable fashion project with local schools.

Speaking on the donation, Beth Knight, Amazon in the Community Europe lead at Amazon, said:

“Greener and Cleaner are a testament to the impact that locally-led initiatives in the heart of our communities can have on people adopting sustainable living behaviours. We’re delighted to support their great work with this donation.”

Jennifer, Youth Outreach Lead from Greener and Cleaner, added:

“On behalf of myself and our team, we’d like to thank Amazon for this donation. Donations like this allow us to share more information on how to reduce our environmental impact at home, work and throughout the wider community, and it’s important to remember, small changes can have a big impact. Amazon’s support means we can deepen the impact we’re having in schools, through creatively engaging a diverse community of young people in sustainable fashion”

Community donations are one of several ways in which Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK. Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than six million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.
