Chuku’s Brings Nigerian Culture to Life with Afrobeats & Lit Brunch
Chuku’s, the award-winning Nigerian tapas restaurant in Tottenham, is inviting guests to celebrate Nigerian Independence Day with a special Afrobeats & Lit Brunch on Saturday 4th October from 12pm to 4pm. The event promises a unique blend of bold Nigerian flavours, music, and literature – offering a cultural experience beyond the plate.
The brunch will feature a live Afrobeats DJ, bringing an extra level of energy to Chuku’s signature vibe of music and community. For the first time, diners will also have the opportunity to explore Nigerian literature through a book swap table, curated in collaboration with UK publishers including Penguin, Hodder & Stoughton, and featuring titles such as Picky by Jimi Famurewa and Cursed Daughters by Oyinkan Braithwaite, released 25th September.
Guests can also choose to enjoy the Chuku’s brunch package, which includes three sharing plates and three drinks for £40 per person, saving up to 40% off the usual bill. The restaurant’s standard menu will also be available throughout the day.
“Chuku’s has always been about more than just food – from our bookshelf of Nigerian authors to the Afrobeats that fill our space. For Nigerian Independence Day, we wanted to take that experience up a notch with a live DJ and a chance for guests to actively explore Nigerian literature. Our guests have been asking for a DJ at brunch, and with our sharing plates, a book swap felt like the perfect way to encourage even more sharing, connection and celebration,” say co-founders Ifeyinwa and Emeka Frederick.
While reservations are encouraged to secure a spot, walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis. The brunch is open to everyone looking to enjoy an afternoon of food, music, and literature.
