International out-of-school club provider expands its UK presence with London acquisition

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Spring ASC at Chisenhale Primary School in Bow, London.

Spring ASC is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated out-of-school club, which provides wraparound care for up to 130 primary school-aged children, supporting local families with flexible childcare outside of standard school hours.

The business operates from the Victorian building at Chisenhale Primary School, and also includes a second dormant site, Bonner Mile End Primary School, which is set to be reactivated under the new ownership, offering clear scope for future growth. It is located on Chisenhale Road in Bow, East London, a residential area benefitting from strong transport links, with Bow Road and Mile End Underground stations and Bow Church DLR station all within walking distance.

The business has been owned by Samantha Hill since she founded Spring ASC and was brought to market as she wants to spend more time with her young family.

Following a confidential sales process with Sam Brooks from Christie & Co, the business has been purchased by Junior Adventures Group, a global provider of before- and after-school care, operating 174 out-of-school club provisions across the UK. The group has an international presence spanning 22 countries, with sites in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Samantha Hill, the former owner of Spring ASC at Chisenhale Primary School, comments, “We started our holiday and after-school club business in 2018 because we were in need of wraparound care for our own children. SpringASC grew and developed into a group of clubs, each with outstanding judgements from Ofsted. We have been truly proud of our offer and of our reputation.

“We decided earlier this year that we wanted to take a step back and spend more time with our own family. We feel confident handing it over to a provider who has shown they understand the club, will preserve what’s important, and will build further on our offer. Our parents are happy, our staff are happy and, we’re happy. It’s a win-win situation.”

Rachel Johnson, Head of Growth at Junior Adventures Group, comments, “Spring ASC Camps stood out to us because of the fantastic reputation that Sam and Sarah have built. They have an excellent team around them, who consistently create outstanding experiences and opportunities for children during the school holidays. Our priority is to build on that legacy, preserving everything that the families love, and bringing together the best of Spring and JAG to ensure the provision continues to thrive for years to come.”

Sam Brooks, Business Agent – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, comments, “Spring ASC is a fantastic example of a high-quality wraparound childcare provision with a strong local reputation – the level of demand for well-operated out-of-school clubs in London remains very strong, particularly where there is clear scope for expansion, as demonstrated by the additional site included in this sale.

“Junior Adventures Group’s acquisition reflects continued appetite from established operators seeking to grow their footprint through well-run, scalable settings, and I’m pleased to have supported both parties in achieving a successful outcome.”

Spring ASC at Chisenhale Primary School was sold for an undisclosed price.
