Minlec Electrical, a leading specialist in smart lighting and electrical fit-out solutions, is proud to announce that its work on the Home House Private Members’ Club has been shortlisted for the 2025 Casambi Project of the Year Award.
The nomination celebrates Minlec’s innovative use of Casambi wireless smart lighting controls to modernise one of London’s oldest and most iconic private members’ clubs, without compromising its historic integrity.
Located in the heart of London, Home House is a Grade I listed property renowned for its rich architectural heritage and opulent interiors. The refurbishment project required a delicate balance: integrating advanced smart lighting technology into a centuries-old building where traditional rewiring was not an option.
Working alongside Lighting Designer Victoria Jerram, Interior Designer Russell Sage, and Chandelier specialists Madson Black and Minlec, Minlec served as the Casambi specialist on the project, responsible for system design, installation, and commissioning.
With the original MICC wiring still in place and strict preservation requirements, the team relied on Casambi’s wireless flexibility to achieve intelligent lighting control. Through careful signal testing and strategic device placement, including the integration of CBU-TED modules at the distribution boards, Minlec ensured seamless connectivity across thick masonry walls and heritage rooms.
The result is a lighting transformation that brings atmosphere, efficiency, and precision control to every corner of the club:
Chandeliers now dim effortlessly to set the perfect tone for any occasion.
Bespoke joinery and decorative details glow with warmth and sophistication.
Even antique table lamps respond to wireless commands, an elegant fusion of old and new.
Scenes were finely tuned for every time of day, transitioning from bright, welcoming light at breakfast to intimate, low-level ambience for evening events, all achieved without disturbing the building’s original structure.
“This project is a perfect example of what’s possible when technology meets tradition,” said Jamie Weakner, Director at Minlec. “It proves that smart lighting isn’t just for modern builds, it can enhance even the most historic spaces, invisibly and sustainably.”
The Casambi Project of the Year Award celebrates outstanding global achievements in wireless lighting control, recognising projects that demonstrate creativity, technical excellence, and innovation.
Home House stands out as proof that smart control can elevate heritage architecture, blending 18th-century grandeur with 21st-century intelligence.
