Redrow London Celebrates Handover of 249 Affordable New Homes to Barnet Council

Premium housebuilder Redrow has officially handed over 249 new homes to Barnet Council at its Colindale Gardens development, helping to tackle the shortage of affordable housing in North West London.

The partnership is part of Redrow London’s ongoing commitment to the local community and contributes to Barnet Council’s ambitious commitment to deliver 1,000 new affordable homes by 2026.

The collection of homes handed over to the Council include a range of exceptionally designed studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments. The interior layouts have been cleverly designed to maximise space and flexibility, with a clean and cotemporary finish providing a premium London lifestyle feel.

Residents can also enjoy a four-acre park, cycle paths and outdoor play areas right on their doorstep. With the Colindale Tube Station steps away, residents can get to both the West End and the City in under half an hour, making the development a perfect balance between the serenity of the area and the dynamic hustle and bustle of London.

The surrounding area of Colindale is continuing to undergo a transformation with investment in the Brent Cross and Cricklewood area. These plans will bring a new primary school, local shops, cafes and restaurants with the development.

The apartments are currently available to rent or buy with shared ownership and will be overseen by Barnet Homes, bolstering its existing housing portfolio.

Paul Muldowney, Managing Director of Redrow London, said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Barnet Council to provide 249 high-quality affordable homes at our Colindale Gardens development. At Redrow we are committed to making a positive impact on the local area and this partnership is a key part of that. We look forward to continuing to welcome residents to this vibrant community and creating places where residents feel safe and comfortable and are able to thrive.”

Cllr Ross Houston, Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Homes & Regeneration, said: “As a council, we care for our people and that means providing high quality, affordable housing. We have seized this unique opportunity to take a big step forward in our commitment to deliver 1,000 council homes by 2026.

“Delivering the right homes to meet diverse needs now and for future generations, that people can afford and are in the right places, is a key priority and challenge for the council. These 249 homes represent really good value for money and will make considerable savings on temporary accommodation costs the moment new tenants move in.”

Colindale Gardens has also recently launched 186 apartments in its brand-new apartment block, Diascia House, which will be available to move in from Spring 2025.
