Senior Reporter Appointed at Capital Business Media’s EV Powered Magazine

International media group Capital Business Media has appointed a new Senior Reporter at its rapidly growing electric vehicle publication, EV Powered.

Charlie Atkinson, age 24 joins the team after beating over 200 applicants who put forward their interest in the role.

Having previously worked at a publishing company based in Milton Keynes, he brings with him a wealth of experience reporting on breaking news and writing high quality content in which an audience wants to read.

As senior reporter, he will be responsible for providing consumers with everything they need to know about electric scooters, e-bikes, electric cars, classic car EV Conversions and commercial vehicles through advice, news, reviews and videos, in line with the publications mission.

Charlie said: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining the industry and I’m over the moon that it’s with EV-Powered.

“It’s clear to see that EV’s are the future. We’re beginning to see almost every manufacturer putting EV’s at the forefront of their business, so we’re at a time where electricity is in a position to overtake their petrol and diesel counterparts.

“It’s tough to say what I’m most looking forward to as this job has so many elements which excite me. I’ve already had a taste of covering Formula E and I’m a big motorsport fan so I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

“In all honesty, I’m just a massive car fan, so I’m really glad to be able to work in an industry that I’m passionate about.”

EV Powered is owned and published by Capital Business Media, a full-service business media company which also has corporate B2C titles under licence for Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd and the Infiniti Motor Corporation, as well as multiple travel, property and business publications.

In 2015, Charlie spent an extended period of time completing work experience at Business Matters, an online and print magazine also published by Capital Business Media.

Alongside his multimedia journalism course at Northampton University, he spent time with the firm writing news stories and long-form features, and ideating and developing opinion pieces.

Due to the impressive work ethic, writing talent and passion for success he demonstrated during this time, he was immediately remembered when his application for the senior reporter role was submitted.

As a result, he has not only been offered the role, but has also been placed on a fast-track programme to become EV Powered’s Editor within six months.

Group managing director at Capital Business Media, Richard Alvin commented: “I am pleased to welcome Charlie to our expanding team.

“This is an exciting time to be involved with covering the growing electric vehicle sector and I look forward to him growing into the role and leading the title as the brand expands into EV Powered live and the EV Awards in 2022.”
