WASD X IGN to feature a BRAND-NEW playable version of C-Smash VRS on PSVR2

WASD X IGN are delighted to announce that a new version of Rapid Eye Movers hit title C-Smash VRS will be playable on PSVR2 for the first time as they set to launch the amazing MASSIVE free update.

In addition, Rapid Eye Movers has teamed up with Lost In Cult Records to host a live music event next door to the WASD event at Rough Trade where one of the game’s featured musicians, Danalogue, will be performing tracks from the OST live from 12-2pm on 15th September. Entry is free, and attendees will also have an opportunity to get their hands on a unique, limited 7” C-Smash VRS vinyl release, designed by Lost In Cult and featuring C-Smash tracks from both Danalogue (The Comet is Coming) and the great Ken Ishii. Danalogue will be available to sign copies of the vinyl on the day.

The major game update being shown for the first time at WASD adds not one but two new exhilarating game modes. Infinity Mode is a fitness mode in which players are challenged to travel as far as they can whilst keeping the ball in play and dodging oncoming hazards. The second is CO-OP MODE, which sees two players working side by side to try and score as high as possible in Infinity Mode.

Additionally, by popular demand, the new update includes an AI BOT, available across the Head-to-head, Firewall and Quickshot game modes. The bot is available in three different difficulty settings (easy, medium, and hard), providing players with a chance to train before taking their skills onto the multiplayer court. However, be warned: although not a “real” player, the bot has its own characteristics and personality, and it will gloat if it takes points against the player!

Another huge addition to the game is the Stage Select menu. Giving players on-demand access to every stage in the game, players also have, the ability to replay their favourite levels or attempt to acquire any A-Rank that they may have missed on their first few play-throughs.

A handful of changes are coming to the Journey mix mode: 40+ brand new stages, including a brand new UNKLE stage featuring the amazing new track ‘Antimatter’ (all of which will be available in stage select), bringing the total amount of stages to 140. Alongside this, new blocks have been added for the new stages as well as being peppered throughout some of the originals. For example, the Multiball block: A block that releases a frenzy of balls into the arena for maximum block-smashing carnage, and the Portal block: a mind-bending block that teleports the ball in to one block and out of another.

Other updates include: the Emote System, allowing players to communicate with their opponent or co-op buddy using an innovative emote system that lights up the racket to convey simple calls, actions and emotions; Instant Replay, which shows players their winning shots in single-player and allows them to easily share it across linked social accounts; the Music Player, which lets players preview the upcoming playlist and jump to the tracks they most want to hear; and improvements to UI Stats, including a more in-depth selection of personal stats and the ability for a player to choose which stats they want to see.

The new version will be played extensively by a broad mix of creators and consumers alike throughout the three-day event.

Jorg Tittel, Director at RapidEyeMovers, said “C-Smash VRS has been a dream project ever since I played SEGA’s Dreamcast and arcade classic Cosmic Smash in 2001,” says the game’s director Jörg Tittel. “It took a dream team to make it, too, from VR pioneers Wolf & Wood to art director Rob Davis, graphic designers Cory Schmitz and Arkotype, not to mention musicians Ken Ishii, Danalogue and UNKLE. Now our game is growing to twice its size – and we’re celebrating with a beautiful vinyl EP release. Like the universe itself, C-Smash VRS will keep expanding.”

David Lilley, co-Founder of Roucan Events added, “we love showing exclusive first plays, especially something as popular and fun as C-Smash. We can’t wait for WASD fans and creators to get hands-on at the event on 14th September”.

Ben Hayhoe, co-Founder of Lost In Cult Records finishes, “C-Smash VRS is a truly special game with a beautiful, atmospheric soundtrack, and there’s no event more perfect to celebrate all its many facets than WASD. We’re thrilled to play a part in this event, and to help share the joy of C-Smash with fans. We really hope you enjoy the performance and the vinyl, and we’ll be right there on the WASD showfloor to play this incredible new update with you all, too!”

WASD will feature over 70 playable games on a packed showfloor at The Truman Brewery.
