Wild Named One of the UK’s Top 10 Best Local Restaurants by The Good Food Guide 2026

Wild, the farm-to-table restaurant in Berkhamsted led by chef-patron Matt Larcombe, has been named No.8 in The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2026, as well as being crowned Best Local Restaurant in Central & East England.

The prestigious annual list celebrates Britain’s best independent restaurants, recognising exceptional cooking, warm hospitality and strong ties to their local communities.

Since opening, Wild has become known for its produce-led menus, with much of its fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers grown at its own regenerative Wild Farm in Radlett. Menus change constantly with the harvest, celebrating the very best of British ingredients at their seasonal peak.

Chef-Patron Matt Larcombe said:

“To be recognised among so many brilliant independent restaurants is incredibly special, and we’re so proud of our entire team, both here at the restaurant and at Wild Farm.

Wild was described as “exactly what a great local restaurant should be: distinctive, welcoming and quietly exceptional”, with thoughtful, flavour-led cooking and a team that clearly care. Those words mean so much to us and reflect everything we hope Wild can be.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who has visited, supported us and become part of Wild since we opened. We couldn’t have done this without you!”

The award comes at the height of summer, when Wild’s menus are showcasing the season’s finest produce alongside a carefully curated wine programme led by Head Sommelier Rémi Cousin.
