As London’s Carnival anticipation grows in the capital, legendary reggae institution Channel One Sound System returns to Village Underground on Friday 28th August for its much-loved annual Carnival Warm-Up, again presented in collaboration with G-SHOCK.
A staple of London’s pre-Carnival calendar, the event has become an essential party for reggae lovers, sound system devotees and Carnival-goers looking to begin the Bank Holiday weekend in the only way Channel One knows how; with heavyweight dub selections and an atmosphere rooted in community, culture and celebration. The event runs from 11pm – 4am at Village Underground in Shoreditch.
For over four decades, Channel One has stood at the forefront of UK sound system culture, carrying the torch for roots reggae and dub while inspiring generations through its unmistakable custom-built sound and uncompromising musical taste. From Notting Hill Carnival to Glastonbury and stages across the globe, the collective continues to champion Jamaican musical heritage while bringing people together through powerful, positive events.
Channel One will once again be joined by special guests (TBA) throughout the evening, with surprise appearances set to get the dance floor moving. Last year’s event featured a memorable performance from reggae icon Sister Nancy, raising the bar for what has become one of the most anticipated pre-Carnival events in London’s cultural calendar.
This continuing partnership with G-SHOCK brings together two brands that have earned iconic status through authenticity, resilience and an unwavering commitment to culture. With a longstanding connection to music, art and street culture, G-SHOCK continues to support the communities shaping contemporary creativity, making the collaboration a natural fit for one of London’s most respected sound system institutions.
Taking place just before Notting Hill Carnival, Europe’s largest street festival, the event offers fans the opportunity to experience Channel One in an intimate club setting before the collective takes its place on the Carnival route later that weekend.
Expect a full night of heavyweight roots reggae, dubplate specials, exclusive selections and the unmistakable sound that has cemented Channel One’s reputation as one of the world’s most influential sound systems.
