A 24-hour music ‘seisiún’ will take place in aid of Refugee Action and The Irish Youth Foundation at Gibney’s, London as part of The Gibney’s Fleadh Festival – a 5-day celebration of the Irish arts in Shoreditch from 25-30 August.
World renowned Irish chef Richard Corrigan and team will transform his Irish pub Gibney’s – an establishment originated in Malahide, Ireland, where its been serving up hearty fare and cold pints since 1937 to adoring Irish folk – into a vibrant celebration of Irish culture and arts: The Gibney’s Fleadh Festival.
Taking place from 25-30 August the festival will celebrate the creativity, humour and musical heritage of Ireland with an exciting line up of some of the most renowned Irish storytellers, comedians and musicians. Alongside the programme, guests can enjoy the drinks and signature bar snacks that have made Gibney’s one of Shoreditch’s best-loved Irish pubs, from perfectly poured pints and Irish whiskey to Irish Cold Cuts, Ham & Cheese Croque Monsieurs, Beef & Bone Marrow Cheeseburgers and much more.
An Irish Storytelling Evening on Tuesday 25 August invites contributors from across London to share their funny, moving and memorable personal stories exploring childhood, family, emigration, identity, relationships, work and the unforgettable characters encountered along the way. Wednesday 26 August will feature an Irish Comedy Night sponsored by Mo’s Lager, showcasing some of the most exciting names on the Irish comedy circuit, including Peter Flanagan, alongside Jack Hester, Siomha Hennessy and Ciara Barnes. Tickets (£18) include a drink on arrival.
A number of emerging Irish musicians will showcase their originals during 30-minute sets on Thursday 27 August in preparation for the festival’s finale: the 24-Hour Irish Music Seisiún. Sponsored by Bushmills Irish Whiskey, the live music will run uninterrupted from 9pm Saturday 29 August until Sunday 30 August, with more than 20 Irish musicians rotating throughout the 24 hours. Confirmed acts to date include Cormac Todd, Niially, Ben Cooper, TooTawl and many more. The event is in aid of Refugee Action and The Irish Youth Foundation, with £1 from every drink sale supporting the cause and customers encouraged to donate throughout the event
