Forget April showers, Chipotle Mexican Grill UK is making it rain free food this month. The fast-casual favourite is celebrating two major cultural moments with huge giveaways, offering 2,000 free burritos for National Burrito Day and free meals for finishers of the iconic London Marathon.
The month of giveaways kicks off on this Thursday 2nd April for National Burrito Day. Tapping into the UK’s ever-growing obsession with Mexican cuisine, the first 100 customers to visit any Chipotle restaurant across the country can claim a free, fully customisable burrito. The celebration comes as new data reveals the UK now accounts for the largest slice of the European burrito market (23.3%), a sector valued at over £1.7 billion ($2.21 billion) in 2025 and projected to hit £2.8 billion ($3.54 billion) by 2034.
“With burritos continuing to grow in popularity in the UK, National Burrito Day is a timely moment to highlight one of our most popular menu items,” said Anat Davidzon, Managing Director, Chipotle International. “Every order is made fresh and fully customisable, and guests can also try options like our Chicken al Pastor.”
Later in April, Chipotle is focusing on celebrating London runners. Across both Sunday 26th and Monday 27th April the brand will be helping thousands of runners refuel and celebrate after their London Marathon experience. Any participant who shows their 2026 finisher’s medal at the till can claim any free main meal. The offer is an extension of Chipotle’s “Real Food for Real Athletes” platform, which has seen the brand support the UK’s running community for years through partnerships with Strava and popular run clubs like Sportl and Scrambled Legs.
“The London Marathon is the UK’s premier race and a true celebration of endurance,” said Anat Davidzon, Managing Director, Chipotle International. “Our connection to the running community is longstanding, and we’re supporting participants with freshly prepared mains to help them refuel after the race.”
Both promotions highlight Chipotle’s commitment to serving freshly prepared food made with responsibly sourced ingredients and no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives.
