Vanguard School Trust CEO Named National Silver Winner at the Pearson National Teaching Awards

Dr Nicola Crossley, Chief Executive of Liberty Academy Trust, which runs Vanguard School in Lambeth, has been named a winner in national education awards today.
Dr Crossley has been named a Silver Winner at the 2026 Pearson National Teaching Awards in the SEND and Inclusive Practice category.
The announcement was made today on National Thank a Teacher Day, with Dr Crossley receiving the news at a special celebration held at Church Lawton School, one of the trust’s specialist settings.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards, now in their 27th year, are widely regarded as the most prestigious recognition in English education.
The SEND and Inclusive Practice category honours individuals or teams who have developed inspirational inclusive practice and created transformational learning opportunities that lead to sustained, long-term improvement in the lives of SEND pupils, their families, and the wider community.
Vanguard School is a specialist setting that supports autistic children and young people.
Jo Galloway, Director of Education at Liberty Academy Trust, said: “Nic has always put the needs of our most vulnerable pupils at the heart of every decision she makes as a leader.
“This recognition reflects not just her personal commitment to inclusive education, but the culture she has built across the whole trust.
“Every school in our family has been shaped by her belief that the right environment and the right support can unlock potential in every child.”
Dr Crossley is now in contention for a Gold Teaching Award, with final results announced in late November.
Gold winners are celebrated during a week-long feature on BBC’s The One Show and at a national ceremony held in London on 28 November 2026.
